The Profound Effect Of A Dog’s Love

Although bringing home a new dog can be a lot of responsibility, dedication and money, it's also one of the most rewarding choices you'll make in your life. Obviously we're pet-lovers, but we have a few reasons (from personal experience) as to why your dog is going to make you smile a lot more often in life. These are just a few reasons why we firmly believe in the old saying “dogs are a man's best friend”:

1. Dogs love you unconditionally.

Your dog doesn't mind if you forget to shower or if you're sick and snotty, he's going to curl up next to you without a second thought. So let your freak flag fly, your dog won't mind.

2. Dogs will never judge you.

We all strive to have friends and family members who won't judge us for our outrageous condiment collection or our affinity for reality TV—but usually judgement prevails (perhaps justifiably). When it comes to your dog, judgment is non-existent. Your dog is privy to all your strange habits, your secret dance moves and your fourth helping of cake—but he's not going to care, in fact your dancing and cake-eating makes you happy, which makes your dog happy.

3. Dogs are loyal by nature.

You don't have to teach your dog what loyalty means, he's born with it. When you're sad, unemployed, or generally not in a good place, guess who'll be right by your side? Your loyal pup is going to be there for you in ways you never expected.

4. Dogs make you laugh.

Dogs do weird things. They roll in dead insects, they steal turkeys from Thanksgiving tables, and yes, sometimes they'll make you crazy, but usually crazy turns to chuckling. Years later, you'll be smiling at the memory of your dog covered in toilet paper after having destroyed the bathroom.

5. Dogs keep you company.

All your friends are busy? Not a problem. Your trusted four-legged bestie left his schedule wide open just for you! You can spend time reading together, playing games, or exploring the neighborhood.

6. Dogs keep you active.

If you've been trying to shed those final pesky pounds, your canine buddy can give you the extra push you need. Dogs force you to be more active—daily walks, vigorous play sessions and a constant workout buddy are just a few of the fitness perks your pup offers.

7. Dogs never hurt your feelings.

Sometimes the people closest to us can make us feel bad. Harsh words, lies, or general curt behavior is not something you'll find in your pup. Your dog can't talk, which eliminates a lot of hurtful opportunities, but trust us, he would never say anything bad to you even if he could speak human.

8. Dogs are always happy to see you.

After a long day at work there's nothing better than opening your door to a happily wagging tail. A pup face that tells you: “I've been waiting for you all day.” The mini-party your pup throws for you every time you walk in the door will never get old. Ever.

The list could go on and on, so we'll leave it at this and let you discover the rest on your own. Take care of your pup, because he'll definitely be taking care of you.
