  • Leash Rule: Off leash

While you enjoy the spectacular 360-view of the city, your dog will enjoy mingling with local dogs as well as the visiting ones. It does get busy here during the week, especially between 3 - 6 PM when people go running and jogging. So stay off the paved road during that time and enjoy the rocky terrain.

3

  • Alamo Square

  • Location: Fulton St. & Scott St.
  • Leash Rule: Off leash
Grab a blanket, pack a lunch or grab something to go from one of the many great restaurants nearby on Divisadero and Fillmore, your camera and some water for your dog. While you enjoy capturing the scenic view of the Painted Ladies, your dog will need a refreshment after running up and down the grassy hill.

4

  • Buena Vista Park

  • Location: Haight St. & Buena Vista Ave.
  • Leash Rule: Leash recommended
Start at the bottom of the hill at the dog run and work your way up the concrete trail. It’s a great workout for both you and your dog, and your reward is the breathtaking view of the city waiting for you at the top.

5

  • Dolores Park

  • Location: 18th St. & Dolores St.
  • Leash Rule: Off leash
If you aren’t checking out the art installations or participating in the acro-yoga meet-up, you will enjoy simply kicking back and people watching as your canine roams free. If you’re in the mood for a treat, keep your eyes out for the paleta vendors rolling down the grassy knolls to sell their ice cream. Dolores is also home to the city’s most unique activities: Cinco de Mayo, Hunky Jesus Contest, Opera in the Park and Movie Nights in the park.
